What Happens During a Hypnotherapy Session?

During a hypnotherapy session, I work with you to access your subconscious mind through a series of breathing and relaxation techniques. Once you’ve entered that calm and focused state, I guide you through a process to recognise and release any negative thought patterns that are holding you back. 

After each session, you’ll feel stronger, uplifted, and more positive. The shift might be subtle at first, but you’ll notice it increasing as you move through the eight-week process until you finally feel unstoppable.

What is the Hypnotherapy Process?

Over the course of eight 60-minute sessions, we’ll uncover the root cause of your struggles and tackle anything that’s having a negative impact on your life. 

Every hypnotherapy session is tailored to you and your unique goals, but the overall process looks like this…

  • We schedule a free, no-obligation intro call where we get to know one another and discuss your challenges and goals. We talk about what happens in hypnotherapy sessions and what results you’ll see. Calls are confidential, and you can ask any questions you have about the process.

  • If everything sounds good in the intro call, the next step is to book your free 60-minute trial session. This appointment is designed for you to experience the hypnotherapy process and decide if it’s right for you. This session is completely free of charge, and there’s no obligation to commit to any additional services.

  • If you choose to embark on the complete eight-week course, we’ll go ahead and schedule the remaining sessions. I usually recommend having the sessions every 1-2 weeks to maintain the progress we’ll make, but appointments can be arranged to fit around your commitments.

  • Once you’ve completed all eight sessions, that isn’t the end of the road, and my email inbox stays open in case you need extra support. Whether you want to book a life coaching session, get recommendations for other local wellness services, or ask about training as a hypnotherapist yourself, I’m here to help.

I Offer Hypnotherapy Sessions In-Person & Online

Hypnotherapy is equally as effective in person and online, which is why I offer both options. I work with clients locally, nationally, and internationally from my office in Kelham Island’s Made to Move fitness and wellness centre, either in person or via Zoom. 

Whether you’re ten minutes down the road or there’s a ten-hour time difference, we can work together in a way that suits you.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Hypnotherapy Courses

  • Being hypnotised feels similar to daydreaming. You’ll be aware of your surroundings and able to hear everything being said to you. You’ll also be able to move freely during hypnosis. 

    It’s common for every session to feel different — your mind may wander sometimes, whereas in other sessions, you’ll find yourself completely focused on your therapist’s words. Most people say that hypnosis is more relaxing than expected and that the experience is enjoyable overall.

  • No, you will feel in control throughout your hypnotherapy sessions. Some describe it as a similar feeling to being engrossed in a film, book, craft, or sport that they love. You’ll never be out of control, and you can emerge from hypnosis instantly and end a session at any time.

  • Yes, hypnotherapy is completely safe when conducted by a trained and fully qualified therapist. You will be in full control throughout your session, so a hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do.

  • Your hypnotherapist should be registered with a reputable independent professional body to ensure they have the appropriate training and experience. Most therapists (including me) offer a free introductory call, and some also offer a free trial session so you can make sure they’re the perfect fit for you.
